Born and raised in Haiti, Olivier Duret (Oli Duret) is the middle of three children. At a young age, Oli was singing endlessly everywhere and all the time. In 2001, Oli started working with a group called “Kai” that its popularity did not go mainstream. While concluding his college degree in 2003, he started performing mostly alternative music along with RnB and pop music. By 2004, Oli started working as a professional singer/songwriter along side Mikaben (Michael Benjamin). Oli has worked collaboratively with numerous Haitian artists during that time.
In 2005, Oli got his official break in the Haitian Music Industry when he joined T-Vice, one of the most successful Kompa bands of modern time. Oli Duret earned the respect of his fans with his HIT song Santim Ta Kriye, Toi et Moi and of course Fem Vole from the Welcome to Haiti album.
In 2013, Oli decided to do some solo work and release Danre Ra with a spectacular video. Soon after the unforgettable song Ma Cherie Je T’aime was released along with All of Me a cover from Grammy artist John Legend. Further earning Olivier the respect of his peers and his loyal fans as one of the greatest singer/songwriters in the arena of the Haitian Music Industry. Oli decided to work with a group called Dat7, which made hits such as Se Konsa and Je Veux M’envoler. Oli yearned to make a bold reflection on Haitian music to the world. Staying determined and steadfast for his love for music, Oli is now a solo artist. He writes and performs with more freedom to explore different avenues genres, beats, rhythms, and collaborative artists.
Earlier this year, Oli released a cover of Ed Sheeran’s song Perfect that gave a Caribbean version with konpa, zouk, and kizomba style that is absolutely a dance favorite. Oli also released his most recent work, Sans Toi that is making way to the hearts of fans and media as the classic love song. Definitely stay tuned as Oli releases his first EP album in Spring 2020.
